A. D. Porter Co., New York
Albert D. Porter began his career as a printer in Boston. In 1896 an
announcement noted the founding of the A. D. Porter Co. at 24 and 26
Reade Street in New York City. Its purpose was "to publish books, music
and miscellaneous matter". Initially Porter published pulp fiction and
well known authors' fiction in its publisher's series. Porter also
published a monthly magazine, The Housewife. He died in 1935.
This firm only published one T. S. Arthur book: Ten Nights in a
Bar-Room and What I Saw There. The "Bonnie Series" is written within
the cover illustration/decoration. (See below). Most likely this series
is a publisher's series of reprints.
This book includes five E. Foote Upham line drawn illustrations that
are frequently noted in the late reprints of this title. 6" x 4.25"
