Keystone Publishing Co., Philadelphia, Pa.
In 1889 the Keystone Publishing Co purchased the printing office,
bindery and two hundred sets of plates from John E. Potter & Co..
This included the book plates for the T. S. Arthur titles previously
published by Potter. The Keystone catalogue list of Arthur books was
thereafter identical to the earlier Potter catalogue list.
Keystone published Arthur books in two formats. T. S.
Arthur's Popular Works were printed in 1889 and 1890. The date of the
Keystone publication is noted under the imprint on the title page. They
are identical to the Potter Arthur books.
A second cover shown below is undated. It is unknown in
what year it was published. Although it had to be in 1889 or 1890. This
is known because in the middle of 1890 all of Keystone’s stock ,
fixtures and machinery were sold to settle a legal judgment.
Both formats are 7.5” x 5” . Red, Black and gold decorations (and
illustrations).
The book with the illustration of the people sitting at a table has
decorated endpapers and a frontispiece illustration.
The other book has plain endpapers and no illustrations. (This cover is
the same as the Potter cover.)
