T. R. Dawley, New York
T. R. Dawley was located in Chicago in the 1850's. He apparently
moved to New York in the 1860's. Advertisements claimed Dawley was the
"Cheapest printer in the world". Printing of books, newspapers,
business cards, etc. were touted. By the mid 1860’s Daley was
advertising a list of its publications in series: New War Novels, Camp
and Fireside Library, Ten-Penny Novels, Dawley’s Ten-Penny Song Books,
Tales of Murders and Murderers, and Three-Penny Toy Books.
Dawley was the publisher and editor of the very popular weekly periodical "Pen and Pencil".
This firm published one T. S. Arthur book. Wreaths of
Friendship: a Gift for the Young 1864 T. R. Dawley 240 pages. Edited by
T. S. Arthur and F. C. Woolworth. It is a reprint and has not been
seen.
The Wreaths of Friendship was first published by Baker
& Scribner in 1849 (copyright 1848). Several publishers
subsequently reprinted this title. T. R. Dawley, a New York publisher
printed this volume in 1864.
