E. Claxton and Co., Philadelphia
This firm announced in July, 1880 that it was going to continue the
business of the late publishing house of Claxton, Remsen and
Haffelfinger which had dissolved. Members of the new firm included
Edmund Claxton, his son, Robert Claxton and Charles Haffelfinger.
The two T. S. Arthur series which had been published by its predecessor
were continued.
Starting in 1881 it published the Cabinet Histories of the States
with its own imprint.
These twelve 16 mo. cloth books sold for $9.00 in a boxed set.

The Claxton book is the same as the earlier Claxton, Remsen, and
Haffelfinger (CRH) volume. Note that the spine of the 1881 and 1882
books still note CRH at the base.
