Charles E. Brown & Co., Boston
Charles E. Brown was admitted as a partner into the well known Estes
and Lauriat publishing firm in 1886.
In 1891 he left to establish his own company, Charles E. Brown &
Co.
It appears that a reprint of Ten Nights in a Bar-Room is the only T. S.
Arthur title that this firm published. I have seen two formats.
Although the presumption is that they both belong to a publisher’s
series, this cannot be confirmed at this time. Most likely they were
published in the mid-1890’s.
Both books have one illustration. The frontispiece is a line drawn
picture of the Sickle and Sheaf drawn by Edith Foote Upham.
