Brognard and Co., New York
This publishing firm took over the publishing efforts of the
New-York Organ from Oliver and Brother in 1850. Francis J. Brognard, an
attorney, was the editor and publisher. He had practiced law in Mays
Landing, New Jersey from about 1842 until he left for Jersey City in
1850. He died in March, 1851 after an illness of less than 24 hours
This firm also published the American Temperance Recorder.
Brognard was located at 150 Fulton Street (in 1850) and 118 Nassau Street in 1851.
The five Brognard and Co. T. S. Arthur books are the same
as those previously published by Oliver and Bro. and thus are not first
editions.
