John Anderson Pub. Co., Chicago
John Anderson Pub. Co., established in Chicago in 1866, published
books and newspapers in Norwegian. Only one T. S Arthur title was
produced by Anderson: Ti Netter i en Skjenkestue og Hvad Jeg Der Jaa
(Ten Nights in a Bar Room and What I Saw There).
This reprint has green cloth with gold gilt lettering on the spine and
cover. This firm published editions in 1898, 1903 and 1908. There are eight line drawn
illustrations including the frontispiece. 7" x 5".
The eight illustrations include seven of the more common pictures which
were first noted in the Potter reprints. The frontispiece however is
slightly different from the usual Van Ingen illustration. Since the
name of the Tavern, Sickle and Sheaf, is spelled out in Norwegian, I
suspect that this illustration was modified from the original
frontispiece specifically for this reprint.
