Harper & Brothers, New York

This firm published three T. S. Arthur titles. They are all first editions.*

These books were written as a series of practical stories on the subject of marriage.

Sweethearts and Wives; or, Before and After Marriage (Copyright and title page note 1843). An edition with an 1844 imprint has been seen.

Lovers and Husbands: A Story of Married Life (Copyright 1844, title page 1845)
This book was published on January 14, 1845.

Married and Single; or, Marriage and Celibacy Contrasted (Copyright 1844, title page 1845) This book was published on January 17, 1845.

I believe that the second and third titles only had one printing.

*Several references noted that Henry F. Anners published the first editions of the latter two titles. This is incorrect. Between 1847 and about 1853 Anners published all three of these title as reprints.

All the books are muslin. Blindstamped. Gold gilt lettering and decoration on the backs (spines). 6" x 4".
There are no illustrations.
