T. H. Carter

This publisher printed one T. S. Arthur title. It is a reprint of The Story Book for Girls and Boys. It consists of multiple short vignettes and has 141 pages. There is a line drawn frontispiece and a couple of smaller internal line drawn illustrations.

Two versions are known. I believe the first listed is the earlier off the two, published in 1843 or slightly later

1. Blindstamped cloth. Gold gilt decoration and lettering on the spine. 6.25” x 4”.

2. The second Carter format of this book is part of the "New Moral Library". The "Moral Library" was first published by Carter in 1843-1844. It was a group of multi authored books which included the entire Marco Paul's Series by Jacob Abbott. In 1845 The "New Moral Library" was published and initially included eight titles. "Arthur's Story Book" was one of those volumes.

I have not seen this book but ads point out that there are two formats. Boards cost 25 cents and extra binding 37.5 cents. Moral library books that have been seen note “ moral library” on the cover.
