Burdick Brothers (1857-1858), New York
A. B. Burdick (1858-1861), New York
One principal was Asher B. Burdick (1826-1894). I do not know whether A. B. Burdick was still in the publishing business after 1861.
Between 1857 and 1859 it was at 8 Spruce Street. Afterward it was located at 145 Nassau Street.
These publishing houses are best known for the publication of the best seller: Hinton Helper's "Impending Crisis of the South", 1857 by the Burdick Brothers and later by A. B. Burdick.
These firms published one T. S. Arthur title:
"The String of Pearls, for Boys and Girls" by T. S. Arthur and F. (Francis) C. Woodworth Copyright 1852. It is not a first edition. This title/contents had been published earlier by Derby & Miller, Auburn, New York in 1853. But originally the contents had been published in 1850 by M. W. Dodd in its "Wheat-Sheaf, Gathered From Our Own Fields".
This volume includes numerous vignettes written by Arthur and Woodworth. There are many (27) engravings. 288 pages.
Based on the dates above, the Burdick Brothers' edition was published in 1857-1858 while the A. B. Burdick copy was printed between 1858 and 1861.
This book has not been seen and is considered quite scarce.
